Foundation Paper Piecing
This is a great sewing technique for making perfect points and joins every time. A little bit tricky to get your head round at first, this great little project is perfect for making a small item and learning the technique.
This project makes a small coaster, but don’t think that is the only thing you can make with the finished item. How about making it into a needle case?
So dig out your left over pieces of fabric and have a go.
Get the pattern and instructions
Cut a square of material and mark the diagonal and cut across the diagonal
Place the pieces side by side and sew a narrow seam. Press.
Turn the material so that the seam is diagonal, draw width of bias on the bottom edge
Roll the material to make a square with the edges now diagonal
Pin together, so that the drawn line is the edge of the other side. Sew and press open.
Cut along this line and by drawing and cutting you will get a continuous length of bias binding
