I love to make anything with a sewing machine. From dressmaking, including lingerie and corsets; patchwork and quilting; soft furnishings; bags and accessories, if it can be sewn on a machine I'll have a go.
Seven years ago I took the plunge and started to teach sewing, and started my own company Sewcial Sewing™ in 2016. Based in Penistone, Barnsley, South Yorkshire on a Tuesday evening we meet at St John's Community Centre. This is an informal class and very social. Bring along anything you want to learn. If you are a total beginner I can take you through the basics.
Starting from July 2017 there have been regular patchwork and quilting meetings. I now call these Sunday Sewcials and are held every third Sunday of the month in the upper hall at St John’s Community Centre, Penistone.
All classes are now available to book through Eventbrite and you can find my page details here: Eventbrite
I have a small but growing haberdashery shop. My aim is to bring the best haberdashery to Penistone at competitive prices to local sewers.
In May 2018, I have secured a contracted with Makower and I am please to say that I am now supplying their material.
Thanks to the Penistone Round Table I am the guardian of three sewing machines. These are available to loan from myself for free. They are also available at classes for those without a machine. Also available for use in classes are both an overlocker and a cover stitch machine.
This is me. I am wearing a dress I have made, and the corset I made for my 40th birthday celebrations.
